My attitude towards advertisement



Some years ago practically there was no advertisement on TV because television was supported by the state. And it was protected from commercial influence. But nowadays many channels try to survive getting money from advertising. As they are financed by different companies, they advertise different goods: medicine, clothes, footwear, furniture, technologies, meals, equipment, cars, telephones etc.

Is it good or bad for TV-audience? I think there is no particular answer to this question.

On the one hand we can get a lot of very useful information from advertisement: what goods to buy, where to buy this or that product, what medicine is better  etc. But some people become the slaves of the advertisement. They even use the words of advertisement as a quotation.

On the other hand the advertisement has some shortcomings. When you watch an interesting film or a programme and it is regularly interrupted by long advertisements, it annoys you.

Besides some TV channels advertise such goods as: alcohol, beer, tobacco. I think it also must be forbidden. TV is a great power in the world and there must be a censorship in advertising goods. But I must say that some advertisements are made very professionally, they are funny, interesting and even can cause a smile.

So my attitude towards advertising goods is rather complicated. When I don’t want to watch advertisement, I switch off my TV set. It is up to you to watch or not to watch advertisement.
